This man needs no introduction. The mastermind behind the Biskit Bodyboarding films. Chris Levi has almost single handedly documented UK bodyboarding for the past decade. His regular edits have gained a huge following over the years, with viewers tuning in from all over the world. We\u2019ve hassled Levi for some time away from his hectic life to see what makes him tick.<\/span><\/p>

SB: Welcome Chris, thank you for joining us. How have you been keeping?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Hey up! Yeah I\u2019m pretty good thanks. I\u2019ve just been working lots and shooting\/surfing a fair bit. I\u2019m doing well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

SB: You work as a care worker, which comes with some pretty crazy shifts as standard. We assume the last few years have been hectic for you with Covid?<\/strong><\/p>

It\u2019s been a testing few years for many, many reasons. I still love the job though keeping the people safe and happy but it has been a full on few years. It feels like we are coming out the other end of it now (kinda haha) so hopefully the endless testing (which has fecked my nose up) stops, as well as home lockdowns and the pro\/anti-vax numptys go quiet. I\u2019m not pro or anti vax. I did what I felt was the right thing to do to help keep my residents safe from this unknown virus . Now a few years on\u2026 the vaccination hasn\u2019t killed me and i can travel = Win! Win! haha\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

SB: You\u2019ve managed to get plenty of time to film over the last 2 years though yeah?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

A fair amount yes. I have missed a bit due to work, but Hey Ho! I cant be on it every day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

SB: What made you get into filming and where did you learn your trade?<\/strong><\/p>

I have fully wrecked myself over the years. My body\u2019s showing its age and the sea is in my blood. If I can\u2019t be in it, I can be by it. I am all self taught \u2013 mostly off YouTube.<\/span><\/p>

SB: Technology and equipment progresses quite quickly, do you have to follow? Is it hard keeping up to date?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

No, not at all! Sure having better equipment makes your life easier, but you can do it on older gear. I have just upgraded my camera to one that came out 5-6 years ago . I shoot surfing which is shown online. Most people watch my videos on their phones. Will I need to shoot 6K footage??? Not really for surfing no. Will i need to shoot 4K??? Not really but I will for guys watching my videos on big TV\u2019s.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

SB: You\u2019ve carved your own style for your edits. Is this something you\u2019ve envisaged or has it been a natural progression?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Lets be frank i\u2019m a p##s taking f###er! I always have been always will be. Bodyboarding for me is about having fun. It has from day one and it always will be and I think this translates into my videos. Also, I\u2019m in Cornwall. Do we get high performance waves? Sometimes \u2013 but not really. If I just filmed the epic days I\u2019d make one video a year, which is no fun so I film anything. It\u2019s what us Cornish Boogers surf the most!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

SM: You\u2019ve managed to capture some high quality bodyboarding in your edits. Do you have favourite riders to film?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Nah, no favourites for me really . Yeah, you have the normal crew that I film but they are wanting footage of themselves which helps.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

SM: The eighth season of Biskit \u201cV8\u201d is coming to a close now. Do you have anything lined up for the season finale?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

8 long seasons haha.. There\u2019s always something for the finale but thats a episode or two away yet!<\/span><\/p>

SM: Do you have any advice for someone looking to get into filming and video editing?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

I said it in a podcast and I stand by it! If you\u2019re filming surfers get a good tripod. Spend a bit more on that. It\u2019s better to have smooth lower quality footage then high quality footage that\u2019s shaky.<\/span><\/p>

SM: The waves are pumping. You\u2019ve got your surf gear and video equipment with you. What do you do?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Depends where its pumping, lol! I have a few spotsI like to surf so if they are on I\u2019ll just surf or mix it up with surfing and filming. If it has any size I\u2019m more likely to film or equally if its busy I\u2019ll film. My fat ass can\u2019t keep up with a busy line up. Sometimes being a videographer helps me get waves. It also helps me get burned (yes you Tim Brown!!) It\u2019s all fun and games \u2018till I have to go straight and eat shit, then I come up with him smiling away !!!<\/span><\/p>
